Drug allergy test from blood
When it comes to drug allergy test, the lymphocyte transformation test (LTT) is used to check the drug-induced immunological response under laboratory conditions. In doing so, the sick lymphocytes are isolated and pooled with the test drug under sterile conditions. In the case of allergy, proliferation begins in the cells, which is measured. A positive and cut-off finding confirms the suspected allergy in all cases, but a negative finding does not rule it out.
The drug allergy test can be used to test any drug from which an aqueous solution can be prepared, i.e. pill, powder, capsule, solution, drop, injection, contrast agent.
The most common allergens:
- blood pressure lowering medications
- painkillers (e.g. paracetamol, diclofenac)
- antibiotics
- contrast agents
- non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
- colouring and preservative agents in drugs are not uncommon
In addition to blood sampling, the test requires:
- the original packaging of the medicine/injection or the patient information leaflet of the medicine
- the drug to be tested (1 pc)
- these must be brought for sampling
Drugs that cannot be tested:
- oily preparations
- ointments
- creams
- suppository
- oily injections
- gelatinous capsules
- gels
- vaccines
How do I prepare for the test?
You must bring the original packaging and patient information leaflet of the drug to be tested, as well as the drug itself for sampling!
A separate appointment is required for the test and sampling is only available in Medicover’s laboratories!
When is the result expected?
After the 10th working day following the test.
How much does the test cost?
The price of the test: 25 000 HUF.
